Scientists from Udmurtia and the Republic of Belarus will jointly develop the field of seed production // I.A. Susanin
Izhevsk. Udmurtia. Scientists of Udmurtia agreed on joint work on the development of seed production from Belarus. This was reported by the press service of the Udmurt Federal Research Center of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Agreement on conclusion with the enterprise “Belsemena”. As a result of the research, Udmurtia and the Republic of Belarus intend to exchange genetic sources in order to develop new promising varieties that will be cultivated both in Russia and Belarus. Thus, there is food security for mass-produced countries.
Andrey Lednev, head of the Udmurt Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture of the UdmFITs of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, drew attention to the fact that the study of Udmurt showed a wide range of parameters for Belarusian colleagues on the Field Day in 2023. Currently, European specialists are represented in most of their grain crops and rapeseed, as well as ready-made Belarusian colleagues to present varieties of their grain crops.
“I was amazed that potatoes are very common in Udmurt, there are almost all the crops that are produced in our country. Moreover, we have an absolute climate, we are very similar to you,” said Alexei Poznyak, Deputy General Director of the Belsemena NGO.
He also noted that in the spring of 2023, the Belarusian side intends to offer seeds for laying demonstration fields.
“I am absolutely sure that our joint activities are associated with great, good results. The tasks that you set for yourself, we set ourselves, we are absolutely sure that we will solve it. Yes, it takes time, but in agriculture it always takes time,” said Aleksey Semenikhin, First Deputy Director of the UdmFITs of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
