Bulgaria U20 defeated Finland hard at the European – Volleyball
Bulgaria’s national under-20 men’s volleyball team won against Finland with a 3:2 game (28:30, 25:17, 20:25, 25:23, 15:9) in their second match of the European Championship. This happened a day after the team lost 0:3 to Belgium.
Martin Stoev’s team made the match difficult by losing the first game, despite leading convincingly with 18:10 and then with 24:19. The team missed four straight points to win, then fell behind dramatically with 28:30 to go.
In the second game, the Bulgarian team did not allow such a collapse, maintaining a lead of 7-8 points all the time and tied the score, closing the part at 25:17.
In the third game, we fell behind again, with the player tied until 19:19, but we allowed the Finns to make 5 consecutive points to 24, and then said 2:1 after 25:20.
In this difficult situation, Bulgaria managed to reach the tie in the fourth part, missing two chances to close the game at 24:21, but succeeded in the third – 25:23.
In the tiebreak, the initiative belongs entirely to the Bulgarian team, which did not miss its advance and prevailed with 15:9. The team did not make three consecutive points from the attack, in which Alexander Nikolov, Stoil Palevi and Venislav Antov stand out.
For the success of the Bulgarian team, Alexander Nikolov scored the most with 23 points, Venislav Antov added 10, and Georgi Tatarov helped with 9 points.
For Finland, Luka Martila was the top scorer with 29 points. After two games played, the Bulgarian team has 2 points and is in fifth place in its group, and in order to move forward, it must rank among the first 4 teams.
