Alexandr Golovine, AS Monaco’s intermittent
his arrival in Monaco Since the summer of 2018, the Russian has missed 43 games. Injuries never too serious but which prevent the player from progressing in a healthy way. We know his potential, true leader of Russia at the 2018 World Cup, he always leaves the impression that his talent is not expressed 100% with Monaco.
At the start of the season, Golovine is one of AS Monaco’s basic players. Logic for a player bought 30 million euros (from CSKA Moscow). Rid of his physical glitches, he is one of the players who allow ASM to save the furniture, in the heart of a difficult summer.
If the physical glitches do not bother him, the 26-year-old can finally hope to achieve a full season. Despite the injuries, he has not disappointed in four seasons with the Monegasques. After 140 games, he has 17 goals and 27 assists, a good record for a midfielder. Even if we would sometimes like to see it display a little more character.
When Golovin goes, Monaco goes better
During the 2020-2021 season, he is the best passer in the team, proof of his influence in the game. It is his best statistical season but it is also the one in which he has played the least. He blessed himself from the second day of the championship and found himself away from the field until the end of the year. He was then spared from injuries until the end of the season, which allowed him to finally show his qualities and put them at the service of the team over a long period. The Russian is also no stranger to 3rd place snatched by ASM in the last weeks of the season.
Having played only half of the season for a total of 26 games with Monaco, he finds himself involved in 15 goals (6 goals, 9 assists). It allows the team to finish the season at the 3rdth place, best ranking of the club since the arrival of Golovine.
After June 17th and a 9th place during his first two seasons marked by the Russian’s repeated absences, he and AS Monaco were able to raise the bar to finish 3th in the last two fiscal years.
Monaco may pile up the attacking players (Volland, Ben Yedder, Minamino, Embolo, Diatta, Boadu, Martins…), the Russian always has a place for him. A condition of being fit…
