Agen. From Montagnac to Toulouse Clara Carmentran weaves her web
Four months ago, a young Lot-et-Garonne girl took the plunge. His project: to become an artist. Let yourself be carried away by creative freedom. Express yourself through the web. To paint.
On April 21, 2022, a young Lot-et-Garonnaise decided to shake up the course of her life by launching her career as a painter. She jumps into the water. Clara Carmentran, originally from the village of Montagnac-sur-Auvignon, is a sensitive designer. Sensitive to people around him, to events, to landscapes, to the world. Her wish: to share her art and become an artist. It all started on a whim. About four months ago, Clara decided to create an Instagram account (@claracelart) on which she could “collect and talk” around these paintings, all those he wanted. Without any pretension and with a certain talent, Clara shares her new creations, her sketches, her work tools but also who she is. Because it is not by chance that Clara chose to become an artist. Seesaw and vocation
Even if nothing predestined Clara to an artistic career, the young Lot-et-Garonnaise has always had a more or less close link with the visual arts.
“I’ve always been very creative, but it was in high school, when I was in the science section, that I really realized that I too could draw well without necessarily taking myself seriously. But I I took the gout there”. Once the foot in the stirrup, Clara feeds on art. So much so that she redirected herself, after having chosen a Math Physics and Engineering Science (MPSI) course in higher education, towards cultural and artistic studies. She finds her place there. Finally flourishes. But arriving in a master’s degree in art history research, Clara finds herself faced with writing her final dissertation, which turned out to be somewhat frustrating. “This year my training does not allow me the freedom I needed. I missed painting a lot. I really needed to express a whole bunch of emotions through asking and also to share them. That’s a burst at that time”.
And the @claracelart account was born
Since then, Clara multiplies paintings and drawings, plays with colors and textures, without ever taking herself too seriously and above all to have fun. She tests new techniques that she shows weekly to her subscribers, new tools to try to transpose her emotions onto the canvas. On her account, she shows photos of her “traveling workshop” as she likes to call it. He has followed it since its inception. It boils down to a tablecloth on which Clara places all her equipment. She moves it around as she pleases. “At the beginning of the summer my workshop had taken up residence on my terrace in the sun, now it’s in my bedroom, when the school year starts it will be in my apartment in Toulouse”.
According to her inspiration and her state of mind, Clara shares bribes from her daily life as an artist, sketches made on the fly. It creates a whole world waiting to be discovered. “This account is a bit like a travel diary except that the trip would not be geographical but artistic, internal. It’s a kind of introspection” she says. A part of her that she will decide to reveal. Towards a career as an artist
Sensitive, elusive and bewitching, his works resemble him. She does not seek to represent anything but to capture moments, atmospheres. From sketch to sketch, from canvas to canvas, Clara is expanding her collection of paintings that she hopes to exhibit one day.
From the start of the school year Clara also plans to show her works on the markets in Toulouse or perhaps at the Jean Jaurès faculty where she will continue her master. “I would really like to develop myself as an artist, to exhibit, to touch and to meet more people who would keep talking about what I do. But whether my project works or not, one thing is certain, it is that I will continue what that it will happen to paint”.
