A historic red card, Marseille slowed down by Rennes, Monaco easy in Reims… What to remember from Sunday’s matches
The fastest red card in the history of Ligue 1, the return of Steve Mandada to the Vélodrome since leaving OM, two stretcher outings in the same match… The meetings on Sunday September 18 have resulted in a surprise, the defeat of Nice against Angers, the first victory of Ajaccio, or even the draw of Rennes in Marseille.
Reduced to ten from the first minute, Nice defeated by Angers
Nine seconds. This is the time it took the referee to exclude Niçois Jean-Clair Todibo. Reduced to ten from the first minute of play, OGC Nice therefore quickly complicated the task of obtaining their first victory at home. Penultimate in Ligue 1 before moving to the Allianz Riviera, SCO Angers seized the opportunity by opening the scoring in the 43rd, with a magnificent strike from Nabil Bentaleb.
The Black & White chain a second consecutive victory! A good result before taking the road to the truce!

If the meeting was then rebalanced following the expulsion of the Angevin Sofiane Boufal (62nd), the Gym did not manage to catch up. Lucien Favre’s men suffered their fourth defeat of the season, while the Angevins continued with a second success in a row.
Mattéo Guendouzi in every shot
Contrasting afternoon for the Marseillais Mattéo Guendouzi against Rennes. At fault on the opening of the Rennes score (25th), with a goal against his camp which hits the crossbar before deceiving Pau Lopez, the Marseillais redeemed himself, in the 52nd, with a header to equalize. But facing a compact Rennes team in defense, the Marseillais failed to take the lead and conceded a draw at home. They came up against Steve Mandanda several times, given a standing ovation during his return to the Vélodrome for the first time since leaving OM.

Hamouma offers his first victory to Ajaccio
The Corsicans finally hold their first success. The start of the match did not, however, promise anything good for the men of Olivier Pantaloni, who traveled to Brest for a bottom-of-the-table duel. Hit in the head by one of his defenders, the Ajaccio goalkeeper Benjamin Leroy left the lawn on civil, for a concussion protocol, from the second minute. The Corsican doorman was successfully replaced by Ghjuvanni Quilichini, who kept a clean sheet until the final whistle.
For the promoted, the thinning came from Romain Hamouma (64th), who took over a cross at the far post to give Ajaccio their first victory of the season. The Corsicans remain last but only one point behind Brest and Strasbourg.
Troyes revives in Clermont
The Clermont supporters will have vibrated about twenty minutes before seeing their team sink. If the captain of Clermont, Johan Gastien, opened the scoring quickly (3rd), the defense, overwhelmed, left far too much space for the Trojans who took advantage of it. After a first mess between two Clermont defenders, Mama Baldé equalized (24th). Half an hour later, he doubled the lead with a quick counter. In the 82nd, Renaud Ripart increased the score (3-1). This successful victory, after a defeat and a draw, propels Troyes to 10th place.
Monaco wins without forcing in Reims
A large but lackluster victory. The Monegasques won (3-0) without forcing on the lawn of Reims. Favorites, they were able to take advantage of the indiscipline of the Rémois, reduced to ten from the 22nd minute after the severe expulsion of Bradley Locko, whose foot hit Breel Embolo on a clearance. Ineffective against the nets since the start of the championship, especially in the game, the Monegasques returned to realism at Auguste-Delaune: first with the diving header from Alexandre Golovine (48th), then the strike from Takumi Minamino (87th), before Wissam Ben Yedder completes the princely success (90th).
The Rémois, for their part, can harbor regrets. Oscar Garcia’s players had to improve shorthanded… for the fifth time in eight games this season. If they held on for a long time, the break will have been fatal to the Rémois, picked cold by Aleksandr Golovine. Then the dikes ended up giving up at the very end of the match. With this new defeat, Reims plunges a little more towards the red zone.
