In Saturday’s final in Belgrade, he lost to the American Kyle Dake 1:3 on points and won the silver medal. He was not enough for the same winner even in the final of last year’s world championship in Oslo.
The 26-year-old native of Ossetia is a two-time European champion (2021 Warsaw and 2022 Budapest) and previously won the title at the under-23 world championship in Bucharest.
At the men’s WC, Salkazanov has another valuable metal in his collection after bronze in 2019 in Nur-Sultan (up to 79 kg) and last year’s silver in Oslo. Last May, he narrowly missed out on a place at the Tokyo Olympics.

Salkazan in the championship in Belgrade in the final of the conqueror up to. On Friday, he claimed four victories – first he outclassed the Brazilian Cesar Bordeaux 13:0 and then he dealt with the Japanese Dajči Takatani 3:1.
He defeated Soner Demirtas from Turkey in the quarter-finals in the same ratio, and in the fight for the final he won over the Italian Frank Chamiz 3:0. Dake beat him 7:3 in the finals of the World Championships last year, and in total four American representatives have already won gold from the world championships.
At this year’s World Championships in Belgrade, Boris Makojev already won bronze for Slovakia in the freestyle up to 86 kg.
He beat the Pole Sebastian Jezierzanský 3:1 in Friday’s duel for third place.
“For me, this result is a beautiful medal, but Tajmuraz is disappointed. The referees helped the American a lot. They reprimanded him once for passivity, but even so, he just ran on the mat for five minutes.
There was also a second proposal for a penalty, but the referee did not react,” commented the coach of leisure activities of SR Erik Čáp, who will still have his charge in the fight for gold on Sunday.
Batyrbek Cakulov advanced to the category of finals up to 97 kg. “We are waiting for another fight against the American, that is, against a team with 50 members. It will be a tough match. About psychology and referees. We will see.”
Cakulova is waiting for Kyle Frederick Snyder. The Slovak representative previously had no problems with Turk Mucahit Celik in the round of 16 and defeated him 10:0. His biggest participation was in the quarter-finals of the representative of Hungary, Vladislav Bajcajev, but he also managed to beat him 4:2 to the body.
Cakulov won bronze in the same study at this year’s EC in Budapest.
