A fire broke out at the very end of the day, Friday September 16, 2022, at the gates of René Cassin college, on the side of Saint-Orens-de-Gameville (Haute-Garonne), to the east of Toulouse, resulting in the release of a thick cloud of smoke in the sky. According to the SDIS of Haute-Garonne, which intervened shortly after 6:30 p.m., this fire of grass and brush, which was “pushed by a strong wind, threatened the college as well as a wood”.
The flames quickly under control
The Departmental Fire and Rescue Operations Center has not skimped on resources: made up of a twenty firefighters and five vehicles from Ramonville-Buchens, Toulouse-Atlanta, Colomiers and Montgiscard, one forest fire group was quickly engaged to contain the flames. A strong salutary mobilization since in the end, the fire only “destroyed an area of 1,000 m2 of herbs”. The college was preserved and the disaster caused no injuries.
