“A new breath in the programming” and “a living room for all audiences”. Such is the state of mind of the Bascala performance hall, in Bruguieres (Haute-Garonne), north of Toulouse for this 2022-2023 season.
Stiffheads to start
If the first event will be the holding of a afterwork-guinguette evening Wednesday September 21, 2022, the serious things will begin, culturally speaking, with the concert of Stiff Heads, Friday, September 23. “It will be the last opportunity to see them in concert because the group will then separate”, specifies Marie Leininger, the artistic director of Bascala.
Humor, comic pieces…
True to its name – “bascala” means “bursts of laughter” in Occitan – the place features several comedians such as Mark (Friday September 30, 2022), a platter of female standing (Friday, March 10, 2023), and comedies like “Big Heat” a scorching play written by host Laurent Ruquier (to be seen on Saturday February 11, 2023, or comic theater with “How do I survive my teenager? »Friday, November 18, 2022.
For all tastes
Eclecticism will, as usual, be present this season on more than 50 dates. There will be something for everyone: dancing (“Ballet Celebration” of the Cie François Mauduit on Saturday March 18, 2023 or the ballet ” Nutcracker “ on Sunday, December 4, 2022), rap (Dadoo on Saturday October 8, 2022, who will come to sing hits from his future album to be released in January 2023) as well as French songs (Louis Baudel takes charge on Sunday, November 27, 2022 and the musical work of Michael Berger will be revisited on Friday, March 31, 2023).
Fans of the Toulouse song will be delighted by the performance of the trio Toulouse ConTour, with the untenable and timeless Yvan Cujious, Magyd Cherfi and Art Mengo. See you on Saturday 1uh October 2022!
A “pride” to bring the Orchester national du Capitole
As for the classic estate, the highlight of the season will be the arrival of the National Capitol Orchestra (Saturday December 10, 2022), bringing with him the worlds of Beethoven and Dvorak. “These are safe bets! I am happy and proud to welcome the Toulouse orchestra,” says the artistic director.
Le Bascala will also show its societal commitment by participating in events within the framework of Cities for All”, a brand set up by the town hall of Toulouse to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities. The Bruguières room is setting up an awareness week, from November 21 to 27, 2022, with, for example, workshops to discover Braille, sensory games, inclusive Olympiads and a show called “The Phantom Member”.
A family season, one Sunday per month
This year, the Bascala has decided to open up to the circus and above all to force the family axis.
“We are kicking off the family season with an event one Sunday a month. We will therefore have a great opening with The Wackids, which will take us back to the 90s”.
The themed evening calendar
Other new features: themed evenings with memorable events in perspective! “The idea is to organize afterworks that have an artistic touch. Blind tests or karaoke, it works every time! laughs Marie Leininger.
Here is the calendar of these themed evenings, to check off urgently on your diary. Start at 7 p.m.:

brazilian carnival
The festive evenings will continue with, in particular, a Brazilian carnival evening and the performance of Meu Brazil (Saturday March 25, 2023) and a 80s party (Saturday, February 4, 2023), which the place has already organized. Do you like balls? Don’t miss the liberation ball (Saturday May 13, 2023), hosted by the Muret Big Band. “In parallel with this evening, the association Mémoire Militaria will set up a military camp on the Bascala leisure base, from May 12 to 14”, indicates the direction of the room.
A tribute to Coldplay
Finally, the “only Coldplay tribute that has been authorized by the group”, according to Marie Leininger, will make the show on the stage in northern Toulouse. Don’t miss the “Coldplay Tribute Show” led by Kévin Cartière (Saturday April 15, 2023): it’s worked to perfection with attention to the smallest detail! “This concert symbolizes the beautiful finale of an eclectic season”, concludes Marie Leininger.
“Echoes et Merveilles”, the fantastic medieval festival
Four years later, the “Echos et Merveilles” festival returns with great fanfare to the Bascala outdoor base, from May 5 to 7, 2023. Viking spirit, trolls, quidditch, fantasy orgy… “We expect 5,000 people a day and an audience that comes from all over France and even in Europe”, explains Nicolas Chaccour, from the Blue Neko production company, which is organizing the event.
The organization announces, for three days, “the largest European stage of pagan/Celtic/folk/Nordic cultures”. In parallel with the concerts, there will also be initiations for children, readings and a large craft market with nearly 150 artisans.
