Glass floors of three Toulouse metro stations used by time: Tisséo will replace them

This is a feature that can be observed by being attentive to the approach of three metro stations in Toulouse: Saint-Michel, Palais de Justice and Borderouge.
These stations of Toulouse metro are, in fact, provided with glass floors. These floors, which replace the classic slabs, are trodden on by the public in a form of indifference.
Trafficable floors
“These works, located in the ceiling of metro stations, are also located on the surface at sidewalk level for Saint-Michel and Palais de Justice and at Place de la Maourine for Bordeaux. They can therefore be circulated,” recalls Tisséo.
They have an essential function: “they ensure the penetration of natural light into the underground space of metro stations”.
Replaced “preventively”
Installed more than fifteen years ago at the time of the construction of line B, these floors must be replaced “preventively”, announces Tisséo Collectivités which explains:
“As these glass floors are located on the sidewalks, the surface layer of laminated glass suffered damage that did not call into question the structural solidity of the structures. The preventive action consists in replacing them in order to avoid infiltrations which, in the long term, could deteriorate the whole”.
Calendar: 2024
The replacement is not for now. A public contract is underway and the work “would take place in 2024”, indicates Tisséo.
