It is Allianz Geas to win race 1 of the Città di Schio Trophy against an Umana Reyer still with incomplete ranks but who managed to keep up with her opponents until the final siren.
Shepard moves the board, reciprocated by the equal role Moore who immediately after granting an encore. Score “nailed” for long minutes on absolute parity after the points scored by Meldere. The defenses prevail over the attacks even if the Lombard in the last quarter bars to operate an extension closing the first 10 ‘with Ramon on 8 to 17.
The start of the second fraction sees the vehement reaction of the orogranata that replicate the triple of Bestagno with Shepard and Villa. Kuier bags his first official points in the orogranate jersey and it is Shepard again who drags his teammates to -3 (19-22 to – 6.33). Geas responds with Dotto who scores and serves a spectacular assist behind his back to Moore. Andrea Mazzon, as always, gives a lot of space to his very young girls who throw grit, desire and… inevitable inexperience on the parquet. The Umana gets closer to just 3 points 150 seconds from the long interval thanks to some excellent transitions forcing the Sestese coach to time out. Moore makes a big voice after the minute of suspension and, on the mid-race buzzer, Bestagno closes at 26 to 33.
The return from the long interval sees Shepard reach the double figure of personal loot (for her at the end there will be 21 points scored, “seasoned” by 10 rebounds). Nonetheless Geas regains +9 thanks to the Croatian Begic while under the crystals the no holds barred fight between Cubaj and Moore lights up. Shepard and Villa halve the gap before the unsportsmanlike sanctioned in Bestagno for a decidedly hard intervention on Matilde Villa. The venetian blinds are brought back to a single length, closing the third fraction with great energy on 40 to 41.
The last period promises to be “fiery” even if the Geas seems to have some more energy than the lagoons that many girls in the youth sector must rotate. Geas has a new double-digit advantage (46-56 to -4.53) by placing a series of mortgages on the final outcome. Shepard “roars” from his par with a three-point action and Villa flies off the counter, once again putting his breath on the neck of the opponents (51-56 to -2.58). For “Lella” Santucci, not in perfect condition, she is 1/2 from the lunette but the next flicker in her painting can only make her “forgive”. Always Shepard from under measure for -2 which brings the teams to the final rush. The triples of Fassina and Panzera explode their respective benches but it is Geas who rejoices at the final siren by accessing tomorrow’s final for first and second place.
proof of the Venetian women who follow their march in anticipation of the return of Francesca Pan’s definitive return, the return of Sara Madera and to see the operaaere and Yasuma, currently optimized with their national teams in the World Championships.
