See what the singer shared in a candid interview with Ivelina Kuncheva
They call her the modern Edith Piaf. Viewers know her as Zaz. And she defines herself simply as Isabelle. She is the queen of modern French jazz, the singer who revived the chanson. In an interview with Ivelina Kuncheva, Za talks about her other face – the one her fans don’t know. He also shares where the stage name came from.
“My name is Isabelle. And when I was looking for what my stage name would be, I decided to come up with a few letter acronym. On the other hand, it is the first and last letter of the French alphabet. The beginning and the end. I was looking for exactly this symbolism – the cycle of life”, says the singer.
To the question of Ivelina Kuncheva, who sees in the mirror in the morning – Zaz or Isabelle, the singer answers as follows: “Actually, Izbael is Zaz. But Zaz, that’s my media image. When I became Zaz, people kind of latched onto that name and wouldn’t let it go. I felt like I had no control over him, everyone was slipping away from me. Isabelle is the one who empowers Zaz”
The singer admits that in the beginning her public image was much stronger than her true nature. He also tells how he feels when he sings in front of a Bulgarian audience.
“I am very happy every time I visit Bulgaria. I keep incredible memories from this country and I hope to rediscover the audience again”, shared Zaz.
