Visit ideas for the European Heritage Days in Toulouse
Toulouse is labeled “City of Art and History” and has an important architectural and artistic heritage. On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, dozens of places open their doors, sometimes closing for the rest of the year, in order to highlight the diversity and richness of our heritage. Many visits are organized by the Tourist Office or by associations.
The restored Grave chapel opens to the public
One of Toulouse’s most emblematic monuments opens to the public after being restored. Inaugurated on the occasion of European Heritage Days, the Saint-Joseph chapel and its copper dome reflecting in the Garonne, the most photographed building in the city, will be unveiled.
For a long time, only residents of La Grave hospital had access to it.
Office and Cabinet of the Mayor of Toulouse
Saturday September 17 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., Jean-Luc Moudenc opens his office and the Mayor’s Office, a symbolic place for the expression of citizenship and its exercise, to the public, as he has done for many years. The opportunity to discover a historic monument as a preamble to the Heritage Night which will take place there in the evening
Heritage Night dedicated to the Capitol
The 5th Nuit du Patrimoine meets the public on Saturday from 6:30 p.m. to midnight for an evening entirely dedicated to one of Toulouse’s most symbolic monuments on the theme: “Capital, Capitol, the city in memory”.
Le Capitole comes alive to discover its exceptional heritage and more than 800 years of history through shows, stories and various stagings.
Heritage Meetings
The Rencontres du Patrimoine invite you to discover the Collectivité’s projects around heritage, throughout the day on Sunday 18 September.
Five meeting places on the program: the port of Saint-Etienne, the old center of Toulouse, the cemetery of Terre-Cabade, the castle of Reynerie, and the exhibition “Toulouse-sur-Garonne” in the Refectory of the hospital Severe.
