The image is striking. Barely 3 minutes after entering the game against Toulon (bonus victory 28-8), the 3e international line of Toulouse, Francois Cros, remained lying on the lawn of Ernest-Wallon, hands on the face. Son left kneethe one he had just come to treat after an injury contracted last June against La Rochelle, again yielded.
This time, he will not be able to escape the operation. The absence is estimated at a minimum of 3 months, and since it is a fall, the Toulouse management will take all the necessary precautions with François Cros, all the more so with the upcoming deadline for the Coupe du world, for which he quite naturally postulates. Seeing Cros back on the pitch at the start of 2023 cannot therefore be ruled out. One thing is certain: he is forfeited for the November tests with the Blues, just like his teammate Cyril Baille.
Jean Bouilhou: “We can only see a failure”
When a player, back from injury, is hit again in the same place only 3 minutes after entering the field, then the question of a too early recovery arises. “We didn’t start it too early. He was in the right mood to play. It’s been 3 months, ”replies the forwards coach, Jean Bouilhou.
This denier suggests that the staff as a whole “may have missed something”: “We can only see a failure, we may have missed something in his rehabilitation at some point. It’s unfortunate to lose him so quickly, and especially for such a long time. He’s such an important player in our team.. It’s a setback for him, fortunately it happens at the start of the season.
Rynhard Elstadt has been given the green light to play with Toulouse
This absence, certainly detrimental for Toulouse, will allow other elements to express themselves. Against Pau, this Saturday, September 17 (9:05 p.m.), on behalf of the 3e Top 14 day, the Rouge et Noir will recover Alban Placineswho received a one-week suspension for “nervousness” after his red card against Bordeaux-Bègles.
The second good news came from the Joint Commission of the LNR which gave its approval this week so that Rynhardt Elstadt can play again. He was part of the extended South African squad for the Rugby Championship, but he was not selected and was not retained for the last two games against Argentina. “Physically, he is on point”, we assure we internally. “Rynhardt is fit for this week. This is great news, given the absence of François,” rejoiced Jean Bouilhou. In 3e line, Yannick Youyoutte and Thibaud Flament will be “able to return to the field within 15 days”.
