Limoges Handball fires first fireworks against Toulouse
They had left an image of infinite sadness last year. We found them bubbly and dashing like top of the class.
The Limoges Handball players won their first success of the season by winning this Friday evening on home soil, against Toulouse 33-31 and it is an understatement to say that they were a pleasure to see. Alberto Entrerrios’ players weren’t quite successful, with a few weak times here and there. But diligent, disciplined, inspired, they produced a valuable copy.
From start to finish, they were the ones who held the score and they always found the resources to keep their opponents at bay. For this, like a formidable Yann Genty in goal, they were able to count on the talent of their individualities. But they also relied on a collective that showed great things even if it only asks to assert itself even more.
good intentions
Because it was his first home game, because it was his reunion with Beaublanc, the LH was obviously keen to do well and respond present. And because it’s always better to mark his entry territory, he throws himself body and soul into battle. So much so that in the wake of a stifling defense and a Yann Genty who quickly proved that he is not an Olympic champion for nothing, he went into orbit leading 5-1 after 10 minutes. Between the game with Nieto in the central sector and the percussions of Dolenec or Lumbroso, the Limougeauds gave grain to grind to their business.
Toulouse was however not born of the last rain. And he did not need thirty-six opportunities to improve his balls or sanction those lost by his host. In the space of two minutes, he thus returned to contact (5-4, 12th). And if Limoges kept the hand by relying in particular on the counter-attacks of Angel Fernandez (10-6, 18th), the Toulousains remained glued to the Basques of the Haut-Viennois (10-9, 21st).
Genty makes the show
Entrerrios’ men were right, however. The battle at the pivot was of enormous intensity and Tomislav Kusan did not leave his part to the dog, while El Deraa and Kollé took care of the day-to-day business at the back base. Kollé even lifted all Beaublanc when, well served by Dolenec, he scored with a kung fu at the buzzer before the break (18-13).
The LH had traced the path, it had to stay the course. And with Yann Genty still as imperial in goal, he succeeded perfectly. The Limougeauds remained still and always in their project, and with the undermining work of Nieto in the heart of the defenses then the strike force of an untenable Kollé or the finesse of Fernandez, they gave themselves even more margin (26-19, 45th).
Already boiling, Yann Genty blew the show even more and ignited Beaublanc (30-23, 53rd). Limoges then had more control than ever on the debates and if Toulouse endeavored to title it to the end, the LH did not lose the thread and offered themselves a first success of the most suspect 33-31.
