Cecilia Bartoli in Monaco, a first season “between traditions and innovations”
The famous singer, who succeeds Jean-Louis Grinda at the head of the Monte-Carlo Opera in January, has just unveiled her 2023 programme. The first as artistic director of the Monegasque institution.
“A careful look at history, but looking to the future.” It is in these terms that Cecilia Bartoli sums up her project for theMonte Carlo Opera, of which she will definitely take the helm in January. Succeeding Jean-Louis Grinda – who is also director of the Chorégies d’Orange, she first wanted to underline “the magnificent work he has done at the head of this beautiful house», before presenting her very first season as artistic director of the institution. A first season that will fit “in continuation of [s]on previously.” But to which she intends to bring her paw and her color, mixes “demanding and glamorous.” And with many nods to what has made its success and signature for decades, both in terms of choice of repertoires and guest artists.
