After multiple heat waves, we almost forgot the opposite word, namely the freshness. And this one will make its appearance in Toulouse, on the occasion of mornings during which the thermometer will display values much lower to those encountered in the same month of September.
Free-falling minimums
According to Météo France, temperatures will generally decrease this weekend. But if the maximums are affected by this drop, the minimums will be as well. 19°C Thursday, 18°C Friday, 13°C on Saturday: the fall will be gradual until Sunday, when it will only ten low degrees in the morning, in the Pink City. Still according to Météo France, the weather will be barely a little milder on Monday (11°C), for reset to 10°C on Tuesday and Wednesday. Suffice to say that this morning freshness seems to extend over several days.
“We can talk about a slightly chilly morning”
A Météo France forecaster contacted by Toulouse News confirms this: in the Pink City, “we have, in September, an average minimum temperature of 14°C. The usual range will be between 11 and 15°C. So when we start to have 10°C in the morningwe are still in the morning freshness”.
“We will be in cooler air and in a northerly flow which will help cool the atmosphere. These morning freshness will last until Wednesday, we will have between 8°C and 10°C in the ex-Midi-Pyrénées region, and around 10-11°C in Toulouse. The minimums will stay cool longer, it’s linked to the nights getting longer.”
But on the other hand, there is no question of speaking of a wave of freshness. “The maximums will rise very quickly, as of Monday we will have more than 25°C in Toulouse. So it’s hard to talk about absolute freshness when you have afternoons at 24-25°C. But we can talk about morning freshness for the weekend and the start of the next one,” continues Météo France.
Very far from the record for the lowest minimum
If the fact of seeing the thermometer drop around 10°C is marked in view of the fairly clear contrast with the very recent heat waves, the absolute record for the lowest minimum temperature for the ninth month of the year is still far away. Very long. We have to go back to September 27, 1972, when it was 1.9°C in Toulouse.
Less than two weeks later… a record
Speaking of records, there is (another) one that fell recently in Toulouse. And it’s a shame, since he is among the minimum temperatures… the highest. On September 5, 2022, the Pink City had broke its monthly recordwith a value of 22.9°C recorded on the Blagnac station, in the early morning, thus beating the figure of 22.7°C, noted, him, on September 8… 2021.
