The OSCE facilitates the visit of the chairman of Montenegro’s state election commission to Sweden
Between 9 and 12 September, the OSCE Mission to Montenegro facilitated a visit by the Chairman of the State Election Commission, Nikola Mugoša, to Sweden where he observed the Swedish parliamentary, regional and municipal elections in 2022. The Chairman also visited the Riksdag, the Electoral Authority, Stockholm City Hall and polling stations.
Mugoša met representatives of election management bodies from Sweden and Norway, as well as a representative of the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance as part of the Swedish electoral authority’s international visit program.
– This visit was an important opportunity to observe the Swedish electoral system, which has deep-rooted democratic values and is highly trusted by the public. It was an invaluable experience,” said the Chairman of the Electoral Commission Mugoša.
He thanked the OSCE delegation for its support in strengthening the Commission’s capacity and providing opportunities to acquire new skills and exchange experiences with electoral administrations from other countries and institutions.
The visit was part of the mission’s work with the State Election Commission to improve its ability to administer elections in line with OSCE commitments and principles.
