Tamás Menczer on Katalin Cseh: “always against Hungary”
The momentous Czech Katalin also spoke against Hungary at the European Parliament session, because she feels that Hungary is a bad place.
Tamás Menczer for the He was referring to a 2019 post when Katalin Cseh explained itthat the whole world needs to know what processes are taking place in Hungary, that is why he is bringing the issue of the Hungarian rule of law to the American Congress.
As he wrote at the time, he is doing this because “the public opinion of the world does not remain concerned with democratic violations, the government is finding it increasingly difficult to hide the irregularities related to the Hungarian rule of law, the greater Russian influence and Viktor Orbán’s increasingly close relationship with the world’s dictators”.
In addition to all this, he also attached a package of proposals to the Congress consisting of three points:
- 1. NATO bodies must keep a close watch on the member countries to cooperate with the authoritarian countries and act appropriately against them.
- 2. An important element of the fight against Russian disinformation is the strengthening of media freedom, which can be served, for example, by restarting Radio Free Europe and supporting independent Hungarian media.
- 3. In addition to the EU, NATO must also play a role in enforcing the norms of the rule of law – even within NATO countries.
Yesterday, the European Parliament discussed the situation of the Hungarian rule of law, at which Katalin Cseh also spoke. Polish MEP Jaki Patryk asked him why he thinks he knows everything better than the Hungarians themselves when he criticizes Hungarian democracy.
“This feeling that I shared with you comes from the bottom of my heart!” Katalin Cseh answers.
The meeting at which the Delbos-Corfield report was discussed was not very well attended and, in fact, the room was almost completely empty. Deputies will vote on the adoption of the report on Thursday.
