Students from an award-winning animation school in Toulouse
Students from an animation school in Toulouse were noticed by a jury of professionals with their short film “Swing to the moon”.
The Esma animation school has put the students of its different campuses in competition. They made twenty-seven short films which were screened in Montpellier from September 7 to 9. Among them, “Swing to the moon”, a six-minute short released during the year. It depicts the story of Temi, a little spider, dreaming of catching the Moon. And this animated film, made by a group of students from Toulouse, stood out.
The work, some images of which are available online, received the first prize from a jury of professionals, performed by Shelley Page. The latter worked for twenty years at DreamWorks Animation. She is now a talent scout for the London studio Locksmith Animation.
Serious things begin for the directors of “Swing to the moon”, who grew up with films like “Toy Story”, “Monstres et Cie” or “Ratatouille”. This first award opens doors to the professional world. “During the evening, we met recruiters who approached us as soon as we left the stage”, says Elisa Drique, through a press release. The studios are eager for young French and Toulouse talent.
