Purchasing power: e-commerce does not feel the crisis
According to BeCommerce, online shopping does not benefit from inflation. On the contrary! Consumers viewed the web as a goldmine of bargains. A vision to qualify.

PWeakened by soaring gas and electricity bills, most Belgians tend to reduce their food and non-food consumption. This is what many players in the well-established trade feel. But on the internet, it’s a whole different story, according to BeCommerce. The association for the promotion of Belgian online sales asserts, with supporting figures: “Compared to the same period last year, e-commerce in Belgium grew by 30% in the second quarter of 2022, a period during which Belgians spent on 3.5 billion euros online”, explains Sofie Geeroms, director of BeCommerce.
