Raised on the baptismal font by the Knights of Fiel at the end of 2010, the Comédie de Toulouse with its intimate Italian theater spirit and close to the public, is part of the Toulouse landscape.
A classic start to the season
12 years later, the Les Chalets venue is preparing for a new season full of surprises, recognized and emerging comedians and talents from the Pink City just waiting to blossom. The season will start with the great classics of Comedy: an evening “Improv Trio” (Thursday, September 15), then “Toulouse… I love it! » and “Toulouse I stay there” (Saturday September 17) then two dates of “Folle du Stade Toulousain”, with the chic and shocking duo Angélique Panchéri-Ludovic Mérot (Thursday September 22 and Friday September 23).
“Crimes in Saint-Sernin” and “Granny from Hell”
Two events will enrich this start to the 2022-2023 season. First the new play written by Eric Carrière, “Crimes at Saint-Sernin”, which will offer four dates (from September 29 to October 2, 2022) before a new burst of performances from November 2 to 5. Also meet from October 20 to 29, 2022 for the new show of the Chevaliers du Fiel, “Hell’s Granny”, which will be the sequel to the Lambert saga.
Sure values and discoveries
In the shadow of Eric Carrière and Francis Ginibre, work Isabelle Jeulin. The director of the Comédie de Toulouse knows perfectly the workings of the milieu and the “flair” to unearth those who will make you laugh out loud tomorrow. “We often welcome artists in the run-in of their new show or at the start of a tour,” she explains to Toulouse news.
Alongside sure values Jonathan Lambert (with his new show “Rodolphe” on October 13) and Mathieu Madenian (November 26 and 27), revelations and discoveries will be on the program.
“We will have Bertrand Uzeel with a show on adoption (October 14), the return of Elodie Arnould (November 10), Gil and Ben, whose show scheduled for June has been postponed (November 23), David Voinson, who is madness on stage! (January 28, 2023) or Giorda, the only female hypnotist in France (January 20, 2023)”.
The people of Toulouse to applaud
The artists of the Pink City will not be outdone at home with the comedians Perrine Deza (October 7), Roman Simancas (21st of October), Andy Pudding (October 20), Magdy (November 12) or even Rom Cart (September 29). What do these up-and-coming comedians have in common? They will perform at the Petite Comédie, a place that has taken on another dimension in recent months.
“This venue is becoming a benchmark for these up-and-coming artists. They get the word out! These are not hat shows, but in a real cabaret spirit. This is an opportunity for them to play in a venue that is beginning to have a reputation. We have intensified the programming there”.
In the large room, we will note the dates of the Pibracais Gilles Ramade and his famous “Piano furioso” (September 24, 2022), as well as those of his daughters Anna and Matilda before Christmas (December 20, 2022).
Young audiences and improvisation as a priority
The temple of humor develops more intensely two axes: shows for young audiences first, with more dates most often on Wednesday afternoon and Saturday morning. And improv shows then, a trend that the Toulouse public loves.
“I wanted to vary on the improv. And the Trio d’impro troupe had the same desire as me. Thus, alternately, we will have, one month out of two, Trio d’impro and a show that will give to see another concept”.
The first of these creations will manifest itself closely: it is “73minutes” (October 6, 2022), on elements and anecdotes given by the public… That’s promising!
Isabelle Jeulin has not yet completed the programming for the season, which is busy until March 2023.
The program (partial and under construction) of the place is to be found on its website.
