“BBC News Ukraine” after the application for the “Book of the Year 2022” competition
The application deadline is September 30, 2022.
“BBC News Ukraine” has opened applications for the BBC Book of the Year 2022 competition.
The annual BBC Literary Award honors the best works of art and essays in the Ukrainian language in three nominations: “BBC Book of the Year”, “BBC Children’s Book of the Year” and “BBC Book of the Year – Essay.”
Applications for the competition can be submitted until September 30, 2022.
Any full-length publication of works in each of the three nominations in the Ukrainian language or in the language of other peoples living on the territory of Ukraine, translated into Ukrainian, can take part in the annual competition.
Works are evaluated according to the following criteria:
- quality of writing;
- originality, imagination and creativity;
- the author’s ability to tell a story, capture the reader and keep his attention.

The “Book of the Year BBC-2021” was the novel “Who Are You” by Artem Chech, Meridian Chernovits publishing house. The prize in the nomination “Essayist” was won by Andrii Sodomora’s collection of essays “What to write about…”, “Apriori” publishing house. In the “Children’s book of the year” category, the book “Union of Soviet Things” by Pyotr Yatsenko, published by “Portal” publishing house, won. The winner in each nomination received a reward of 1,000 pounds in hryvnia equivalent.
