The Union of Pensioners in Slovakia handed over a petition to Kollár: What are they asking for?
On Tuesday, the Union of Pensioners in Slovakia (JDS) handed over a petition entitled “Seniors also want to live with dignity” to the President of the National Council (NR) of the SR, Boris Kollár (We are a family).
Requirements include extraordinary valorization of pensions by 8% until the end of this year, cancellation of minimum old-age pensions or payment of the 14th pension in November.
Among other things, the seniors are also asking for the approval of the 13th pension in the amount of a monthly pension instead of the Christmas allowance, an increase in the state allowance for rehabilitation and treatment stays from 50 to 100 euros, and zero copayments for medicines for every senior, for all medicinesnot just for the cheapest generics.
“We mainly wanted society to realize that they haven’t yet given us any reaction as pensioners to the fact that we have high living costs and, above all, those who are low-income, who have the lowest pensions, who live below the subsistence minimum and so on, it is precisely these who need to be helped,” brought closer to TASR after a meeting with Kollár, JDS chairman Michal Kotian.
The pensioners submitted a petition with more than 180,000 signatures. According to the chairman of the JDS, Kollar appreciated the collection of such a number of signatures in a short time. According to Kotian, Minister of Labor Milan Krajniak (We are a family) also came to the meeting. “He talked about specific steps that could be taken before the end of the year, so that pensioners can survive solidly,” Kotian stated.
