The City of Toulouse takes part in the European Heritage Days
On September 17 and 18, Toulouse is taking part in the European Heritage Days, notably with the opening of the Chapelle de la Grave.
Toulouse is labeled “City of Art and History” and has an important architectural and artistic heritage. On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, dozens of places open their doors, sometimes closing for the rest of the year, in order to highlight the diversity and richness of our heritage. Many visits are organized by the Tourist Office or by associations, without forgetting the Night and the Heritage Meetings on Saturday and Sunday.
Highlights
The restored Grave chapel opens to the public
One of Toulouse’s most emblematic monuments opens to the public after being restored. Inaugurated on the occasion of European Heritage Days, the Saint Joseph chapel and its copper dome reflecting in the Garonne, the most photographed building in the city, will be unveiled.
For a long time, only residents of La Grave hospital had access to it. In 2015, at the request of Jean-Luc Moudenc, the CHU, owner of the Saint-Joseph chapel, entrusted its management to the Town Hall of Toulouse, which decided to restore the site, to open it to Toulouse residents and to share its story.
