Andorra will link the rise in rents to that of salaries
The Government convenes the economic and social council to discuss the percentage of increase
ANDORRA LA VELLA (ANDORRA), 13 Sep. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The head of the Government of Andorra, Xavier Espot, has insisted this Tuesday that the figure agreed to increase wages will be approximately the same as that applied to the increase in rents.
He announced it during the second day of the political orientation debate by announcing that on Monday the Executive summoned employers and unions to open dialogue and try to reach an agreement on the salary increase.
“This decision will condition the one we adopt on the increase in rents,” he said, although he did not want to advance any due to the unpredictability of the evolution of inflation.
Even so, he has made it clear that it makes no sense for salaries to rise, for example, by 5% and rents by 10 or 12%.
The second day of the debate began with Espot’s responses to the interventions of the parliamentary groups and was highly critical of the opposition.
First, he has questioned the “immobility” of the Terceravia group, led by Josep Pintat, and has accused it of not wanting to do anything on issues such as the association agreement with the EU, housing or wages.
Pintat has reproached Brussels for “submission” for not having allowed the participation of the parliamentary groups in the negotiation for the association agreement.
The president of the Social Democratic group, Pere López, Espot has reproached him for blaming the Government for all the ills, and they have maintained a strong dialectical exchange in relation to the measures to solve the housing problems.
Pere López has replied: “You are responsible for the situation, you have lowered taxes and assignments and prices are more expensive.”
On the part of the groups that support the government majority there have also been criticisms of the opposition.
The president of the Democratic group, Carles Enseñat, has criticized the “comfortable” position of the opposition and that they do not make proposals and only criticize.
For his part, the president of the independent group, Ferran Costa, has appealed to the consensus to face the “complicated” moments that arise.
The leader of Ciutadans Compromises, Carles Naudi, has accused the opposition of using “ideological tyranny” and has defended the government’s proposals.
PROPOSAL
In the final part of the debate, the 11 resolution proposals presented by the parliamentary groups were voted on.
Presented by the majority and approved with the opposition abstaining, the one that asks the Government to evaluate the possibility of applying a tourist tax for camping-cars, caravans or vans enabled to sleep and that spend the night in the Principality although they do not have reserved space in a campsite.
In addition, they want to determine the spaces specifically enabled to park this type of vehicle.
