Unable to appraiser. Visible from the Milky Way (or RD902) and located a few hectometres from the Blagnac shopping centera huge building has been abandoned for nearly half a decade.
A former training center for Airbus and civil aviation
Before being the playground of graffiti artists, this building hosted theAir Affairs Academya subsidiary ofAirbus (since 2004) which trained thousands of people a year to fill positions in civil aviation: with the European aircraft manufacturer, its subcontractors or even in airlines.
In 2016, this training center moved to the new campus of theAirbus Group Leadership Universitylocated at 10 rue Franz Joseph Strauss, still in Blagnac.
A building belonging to Klépierre
But six years after the Air Business Academy moved, the building now owned by Klepierre – the company that owns the neighboring shopping center, but also those of Portet-sur-Garonne and castling – can no longer find takers. And it’s not for lack of trying…
By searching for a few minutes on the internet, one can easily find the trace of an announcement of BNP Paribas Real Estate for this property which offers 3,200 m² of offices for rent.
Contacted by Toulouse newsthe subsidiary of the BNP Paribas bank indicates that it is no longer in charge of this file.
Tags, swastikas, broken windows…
Today, the building remains very empty and bears the brunt of the ravages of time. On the windows and on the walls, both on the ground floor and on the floors, the building is entirely covered with graffiti. Of the swastikas were even drawn. They are visible for hundreds of meters.
In 2021, the large car park (nearly 200 spaces) had been illegally occupied by travelers who had come to settle all around the Blagnac shopping center. To avoid having new intrusions on this private property, concrete blocks were placed in front of all entrances.
“Reflections” to “redevelop the area”
Asked about the future of the site, Klépierre ensures that “reflections” are expected with the City of Blagnac and Toulouse Métropole in order to “redevelop the area”. An assertion confirmed by the Blagnac municipality which even mentions “ongoing studies”.
However, the owner of the land is not, for the time being, able to provide more details on the content of these discussions. While waiting to find out more, nature is reclaiming its rights in the former Air Business Academy…
