Our students really want to learn Russian
Students from Sri Lanka are interested in learning Russian. Now more than 3,000 students from the Socialist Republic are studying in Russia. This was announced by the Minister of Media, Transport and Highways of Sri Lanka Bandula Gunawardana in an interview with Tatar-inform.
“Srilan students really want to learn Russian. When I was the Minister of Education, I met this,” the speaker said. He added that due to the policy of international education in Sri Lanka, it is not possible to allocate a large number of students to study abroad.
“We expect Russian universities and institutes to open their branches in Sri Lanka. It is assumed that not only students of our republic will study there, but also neighboring countries – Nepal, Indonesia, Bangladesh and so on,” he said.
According to the minister, it is possible to create combined programs when students, for example, study in Sri Lanka for two or three years, and then go to Russia and complete their studies and receive a diploma. “If meetings with educational departments are organized in Russia, then I can assume this possibility with them,” summed up Gunavardana.
