In Toulouse, the Candie estate celebrates the harvest
Sunday, September 11, the wine estate of the Town Hall of Toulouse organizes a harvest festival. Tastings, grape harvests with the family… the Candie estate and its South-West wines are to be discovered.
It was the deadline for Toulouse residents to choose the wine labels of the Pink City. This Sunday, September 11, the field of candy organize your harvest partyand all the inhabitants of Toulouse are invited.
Indeed, this agricultural domain belongs to the municipality since 1975. On 250 hectares, it cultivates cereals, legumes, but also grapes. And since 2015, the entire estate has been certified “Organic Agriculture”, which makes it one of the largest in Occitania.
Harvest festival program
For its harvest festival, the domain of the Town Hall of Toulouse has planned several activities. The whole area is to be discovered. It is for example possible to enters the vineyards in a tractor, departing from the chateau cellar. Then cut, press and taste your harvest, back in the cellar. A South-West wine tasting session is also planned, with initiations and food-wine pairing workshops.
The estate’s two new ranges of organic wine, called “Tolosa” (Toulouse in Occitan) and “Illustrious”, revealed at the harvest festival, with the elements chosen by the people of Toulouse. Each range consists of a white, a rosé and a red. Gros Manseng, Malbec, Marselan, Chardonnay, and Merlot are the grape varieties to be found there.
Throughout the day, entertainment will take place at the estate. Discovery of heritage, beekeeping, horse-drawn carriage rides, treasure hunts or games for children…
