BOSS GP BRÜNN, Formula 1 legends close to Austria
Formula 1 atmosphere at the gates of Austria, best accessible for fans from Eastern Austria or Upper Austria: the spectacular BOSS GP series starts this weekend in Brno.
After six races in Hockenheim, Spielberg and Le Castellet, six more races are on the program in Brno, Mugello and Misano after the summer break in nine weeks.
Before the season ends in Italy, the unique mix of Big Open single seaters in the categories Formula 1, Formula 2, World Series by Renault & Co. will go to Brno. With a track length of 5,403 kilometers, the former MotoGP circuit is also the second longest track of the year after the Circuit Paul Ricard (5.8 km long). Fast and fluid corners alternate with a technically demanding part. The engine power is also a deciding factor, because the Czech roller coaster is steeply uphill in the last third of the route. Here you can not only see what the cars are capable of, but also which driver has the best control of his vehicle.
Lotus F1 makes debut. Four cars are entered in the BOSS GP F1 Class, also the classification of Formula 1 cars. Among them are three Toro Rossos, including the STR1 of championship leader Ingo Gerstl (AUT, Top Speed), who has won all races so far this season. In Sebastien Vettel’s premiere winning car, the Toro Rosso STR3 with a Ferrari engine, Thomas Jackermeier (GER, Top Speed) will break this series in Brno. Racing fans can look forward to a rare piece of motorsport history in the form of the green and yellow Lotus T127. The 2010 Formula 1 car is equipped with a Cosworth V8 engine and is used by the Top Speed team. The former car of Jarno Trulli and Heikki Kovalainen will be driven by Austrian Thomas Jakoubek.
In the BOSS GP OPEN Class, Harald Schlegelmilch (LVA, HS Engineering) will be at the start in a modified Dallara-WsbR. The former Formula 3 professional will try to chase down the Formula 1 cars from the front starting group with fast lap times.
FORMULA title fight open again. In the absence of table leader Zdenek Chovanec Lopez, FORMULA title defender Marco Ghiotto (ITA, Scuderia Palladio) is aiming for his first win of the season. In the fight for the championship, however, Ghiotto’s compatriot Simone Colombo (MM International) could put himself in the best starting position. After three events, he is only twelve points behind Chovanec-Lopez, but already 35 ahead of Marco Ghiotto. Also named was Salvatore de Plano (ITA, MM International), who has won races with a GP2 in the past. After an expected break from racing, he too will have a say in the fight for the podium.
In the BOSS GP SUPER LIGHTS, Alexander Geier (Geier Racing) in an older Tatuus-Renault, built in 2003, and Andreas Hasler (Hasler Motorsport) continue their inner-Austrian duel in the class of six-cylinder cars.
Czech Republic’s biggest circuit event of the year. The first run will start on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., the second on Sunday at 12:50 p.m.
In addition to the headliner BOSS GP, other racing series round off the program from Friday to Sunday: including Drexler Formula Cup, ESET V4 Cup with the TCR Eastern Europe and the Renault Clio Cup Bohemia and historic racing classes (HAIGO). Children under the age of 12 have free entry, day tickets are available for 13 euros, weekend tickets cost 17 euros. The parking spaces at the open grandstands are free of charge. All tickets can be bought at the box offices on site.

What is the BOSS GP Racing Series? Nowhere else can formula racing cars of the highest categories still be seen for their original purpose: to race. The designation “BOSS” stands for Big Open Single Seater, which means something like: Only the large and high-horsepower formula racing vehicles of recent years are permitted here. In addition to the Formula 1 racing cars of the past 25 years, the FIA-certified BOSS GP Racing Series is also open to Formula 2, IndyCar, World Series by Renault, Auto GP and A1 GP. All together they offer action-packed, fast and powerful motorsport at its best, which is unparalleled in this form in the motorsport universe.
