Rare diseases, the challenge to find innovative solutions is back: the Rare Disease Hackathon in Florence
Are you older than 18? Get involved and use digital and communication skills to try to help people with rare diseases. The Hackathon on rare diseases is back, sixth edition of the competition that aims to bring well-being, advantage and innovative solutions to the community of people with rare diseases. University students, researchers, computer scientists, designers, communicators, health professionals will get involved to take up this challenge.
A technical briefing on the topic of rare diseases will be held on 14 September to gain greater awareness among participants and on how to participate, deadline for registration on 17 September, the online competition on 20 September from 9 to 18, on 6 October the challenge among the finalists. Participation in the Rare Disease Hackathon has always proved to be an opportunity for growth in which one empathizes with the sick, you become aware of their daily difficulties, you put all your skills into play, but also the imagination, the desire to find a useful idea, the determination. It is a moment of passion, adrenaline, fun.
The sixth edition of the competition will take place in several stages in September: a technical briefing and an online work session, in special virtual rooms, in which theand will be asked to structure the conceptual idea and present it with an emotional video / to communicate lightly the theme of rare diseases and a message of hope.The jury, as always composed of authoritative characters with different skills, will evaluate the project proposals to select a shortlist of finalists who will participate in the final phase on 6 October at the Stazione Leopolda in Florence, as part of the two days of the Health System Forum 2022: here the teams that have passed the first selection will define the business model and prepare a pitch to convince the jurors in a few minutes of the validity of their idea. This year we wanted to enhance the dimension of communication, inviting teams to produce emotions, capable of bringing attention to the rare patient while offering a message of hope and lightness.
Participation is free, and it is an opportunity to get to know but also to make yourself known. Winners will be able to meet Takeda’s management, illustrate their idea and learn about how a large company works. All pro-future ideas will also be reported in a summary document, disseminated to the network of contacts of hubs, innovation centers and to expand the interested parties, with the aim of expanding the community of those who want to innovate in health care.
