In competition and out of competition
In the Sala Grande it starts at 2.15 pm with The matchmaker, out of competition, by Benedetta Argentieri. At 4.45 pm she touches the competition, with Shab, Dakheli, Divar (Beyond the wall), by Vahid Jalilvand. At 19.00 it’s the turn of Blonde, by Andrew Dominik with Ana de Armas, Adrien Brody, Bobby Cannavale, Xavier Samuel, Julianne Nicholson, Lily Fisher. It closes at 10.15 pm with Drought by Paolo Virzì, with Silvio Orlando. Valerio Mastandrea, Elena Lietti, Tommaso Ragno, Claudia Pandolfi, Vinicio Marchioni, Monica Bellucci, Diego Ribon, Max Tortora, Emanuela Fanelli, Gabriel Montesi, Sara Serraiocco.
Horizons and Extra Horizons
The Orizzonti competition continues in Sala Darsena at 2.30 pm with Trenque Lauquén by Laura Citarella. At 9.00 pm for Orizzonti Extra in the Garden Room there is Goliath by Adilkhan Yerzhanov.
Critics ‘Week and Authors’ Days

Great protagonist in the history of the Venice Film Festival since 1984 when his talent was discovered by international cinema with the first series of Heimat, Edgar Reitz returns to the Lido tomorrow for a special prize, an awaited masterclass and a preview of the restored version of Heimat 2 exactly thirty years after the film was consecrated by Venice an authentic triumph which was followed by the very popular filming at the Nuovo Sacher cinema by Nanni Moretti.
Now, on the threshold of 90 years (next November 1), the great Master, founder of the Ulm school together with Alexander Kluge, is honored by the special prize for the 75th year of the Fondazione Ente dello Spettacolodelivered by its president, Don Davide Milani. The handover ceremony will take place tomorrow, September 8th, at 10.30 am at the Excelsior hotel.
In the afternoon, Gar Reitz will be the protagonist of the third masterclass organized in collaboration with Experimental Center of Cinematography Foundation together with the Giornate degli Autori and Isola Edipo to propose the first two episodes of Heimat 2 restored for the world premiere in Venice. The meeting led by Ilaria Ravarino with the film historian Giovanni Spagnolettiis scheduled in Sala Laguna (via Pietro Buratti 1) at 4.00 pm.
Immediately after Venice the myth of “Heimat” relives in Romein collaboration with the Italian distributor Viggo and the Goethe-Institut Rom: from mid-September at the Casa del Cinema every weekend until the end of the year it will be possible to see or review the complete trilogy on the history of Germany, including the additional chapter The other Heimat – chronicle of a dream of 2013. An unprecedented “marathon” that could end up in the Guinness Book of Records and which is intended for fans of great auteur cinema, now finally able to grasp the monumental breadth of a work that marks the transformations of the last century .
