How much money do the Netherlands really receive from the corona recovery fund?
Ursula von der Leyen will announce later today how much money the Netherlands receives from the European corona recovery fund. At the end of the afternoon, the President of the European Commission will visit the Port of Rotterdam Authority, where she will talk with Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Minister of Finance Sigrid Kaag, among others. The cabinet hopes to receive 4.7 billion euros in subsidies.
In addition to consultations with cabinet members, von der Leyen also visits presentations on sustainable mobility and takes a look at an electric inland vessel. This is in line with the proposals the Netherlands has made: half of the money should go to sustainability goals.
In July, the cabinet will present a fist-sized package with proposals to the European Commission. This Recovery and Resilience Plan had to deliver to support the coalition agreement, it was read. In addition to ideas for sustainability, this also concerns plans in the field of nitrogen, digitization, housing, healthcare, the labor market and tax avoidance. The way in which the plan had come about did not cause irritation in the House of Representatives. He felt that the cabinet should consult more with parliament and society.

The Netherlands was the last country to submit plans for the European corona recovery fund. That was because of the long formation. Most of the other countries’ proposals have been approved by the European Commission. Only Hungary has not yet reached a decision, due to disagreements about the rule of law there. Also to vote.
The Dutch cabinet assumes that the plans will be red in both stages. In total, the fund comprises 750 billion in loans and grants. The Netherlands only has applications for subsidies.
