House of Representatives – Berlin – Round table on the shortage of teachers has started work – politics
Berlin (dpa / bb) – The round table on the shortage of teachers in Berlin schools has started work. The first meeting was on Wednesday, as Education Senator Astrid-Sabine Busse (SPD) explained on Thursday in the House of Representatives. Busse had invited. “A number of dates are planned until the beginning of January, maybe even more.” The round table is something completely new. “We allow ourselves to think freely.”
The goal is to find creative solutions to the shortage of staff in schools. “And we will do it too,” said Busse. Trained teachers have been desperately needed in Berlin for years. At the beginning of this school year, hundreds of positions remained unfilled.
“We want to discuss low-threshold measures and check them for short-term implementation.” However, more time-consuming solutions should also be discussed. Berlin has already started giving teachers civil servants again – most recently it was the only federal state that had refrained from doing so.
Representatives from the state school advisory board, the state committee for educational staff, the state parent committee, the state student committee, the advisory board for vocational schools and the association of senior directors of studies are represented at the round table.
