Haute-Savoie. Dangerous rescue of a paraglider suspended from the wall of the Lanfon teeth
A perilous intervention mobilized mountain rescue professionals for several hours, this Thursday afternoon, September 8, at the end of Lake Annecy.
The Dragon 74 civil security helicopter was engaged on the heights of the Dents de Lanfon, to rescue an injured paraglider in distress, suspended in the void under his canopy.
Suspended under its sail clinging to the rocks
In an undetermined context, the latter is suspended from rocks but the balance is very precarious.
The alert was given around 3 p.m. Particularly technical, the delicate aerial intervention imposed the greatest caution on the rescuers to reach the paraglider in an unfortunate position, suspended in the void, along the wall. Impossible to take him out directly with the helicopter, the man is under an overhang.
A small tree for a delicate deposit
The rescuer from the high mountain gendarmerie platoon (PGHM) in Annecy, commander of the rescue operations, was dropped off by the crew of Dragon about 80 meters above, at the level of a small fir tree, the only suitable place to a millimeter drop on this steep sector. The paraglider was joined by the soldier and secured with a rope, with a lot of bolts and pegs.
With the help of the rescuer from the mountain group of firefighters (GMSP 74), a second rope was put in place to drag the paraglider to the ground, where he was received by the rescuers from GMSP 73 and by the doctor of the SAMU 74.
The intervention, technical and dangerous, lasted several hours, associated until the beginning of the evening with the entire air rescue chain, faced with relief in rather rare circumstances. Aware, the paraglider suffering from pain in the pelvis was evacuated to Annecy hospital.
An investigation carried out by the soldiers of the PGHM of Annecy was opened to clarify the circumstances in which the man found himself hanging on the wall.
