Drought. Comment Toulouse recycles water from the Nakache swimming pool? –
The town hall of Toulouse uses water from the Nakache swimming pool, on the island of Ramier, to water its green spaces in times of drought and water restrictions.
Here is an initiative that could inspire other municipalities. The town hall of Toulouse had a very green idea to be able to water its green spaces even in times of drought and water restrictions. It uses water from the Nakache swimming pool, the largest pool in Europe with its 150 meters long and 50 wide. Located on the island of Ramier, in a reserve of six million liters of water.
“Drought and global warming are pushing us to ask new questions that we didn’t ask ourselves before. The idea came at the end of the summer and we wondered if we could not recover this water, ”says the mayor of Toulouse Jean-Luc Moudenc (LR), in the columns of 20 minutes.
The water from the Nakache swimming pool will still be used for a week in Toulouse
To use the water from the Nakache pool, it first had to be left to stand. The Île du Ramier basin has not received bathers since August 29. The municipal teams left the water to stand for two days so that the chlorine evaporated naturally.
Some 500 m3 of water have already been used. Whether for watering the green spaces of the Pink City. Or for feeding ornamental ponds in parks. Or even for cleaning public roads. However, its use will be limited. Indeed, beyond next week, too much algae will be developed.
