Toulouse. L’Envol des Pionniers takes part in the European Heritage Days
L’Envol des Pionniers opens its doors wide and offers many new activities for the European Heritage Days on 17 and 18 September.
For the 4th consecutive year, L’Envol des Pionniers is taking part in the European Heritage Days. L’Envol des Pionniers welcomes visitors free of charge and invites them to discover the epic of airmail through the permanent exhibition and the temporary exhibition “Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, a Little Prince among Men”. For the occasion, the site presents a new program around meetings, writing workshops and cultural mediations. These days will also be an opportunity to preview a new permanent space: the reconstructed office of the famous airmail operations manager, Didier Daurat.
To celebrate the event, L’Envol des Pionniers offers various highlights throughout the weekend with a multisensory journey and encounters:
- The exceptional presence of Arnaud Nazare-Aga, the artist who designed the sculptures of the Little Prince in the temporary exhibition “Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, a Little Prince among Men”;
- An olfactory journey where you can find the perfumes and smells of the different destinations in which the pioneers of airmail make a stopover;
- An interactive quiz around the major historical stages and the threads of airmail with many puzzles to solve;
- The piano and voice of the Compagnie Un Tournesol sur Jupiter, which will sing the popular tunes of the airmail years;
- A reading corner to discover Aéropostale through its stories;
- The meeting of historical characters, embodied by mediators in period uniforms of the Airmail Line;
- Listen to the actors on the airfield, perched on an overhead gantry, read some emblematic passages from the texts of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry and tell some unpublished anecdotes on the Line. Acrobats will end this poetic parenthesis;
- The meeting with Les Amis de L’Envol des Pionniers who will be present to transmit the history of Toulouse-Montaudran and share, evoke, perpetuate and transmit the experiences and values that the pioneers of airmail have bequeathed to us. Sessions from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
It will be possible to eat on site with Argentinian empanadas from the food-truck Las Chicas.
