Rome: book on safety and prevention presented
Presented today in Rome, at the Higher School of Police, the book “Safety, danger and prevention in the risk society” by Giuseppe Linares, director of the Central Crime Service of the State Police, and Daniela Mainenti, extraordinary professor of comparative procedural law at the Uninettuno University.
Present at the event, the Chief of Police Franco Gabrielli, the Chief of Police Franco Lamberto Giannini and the Central Crime Director of the State Police Francesco Messina, the Chief of Police under the Presidency of the Council of State Francesco Messina, upon their arrival from the director of the Anna Maria Di Paolo High School.
The work describes the phenomenon in all its complexity, inspired both by the thought of Pio La Torre, who affirmed the need for legislation dedicated to prevention, and by the judicial action of Giovanni Falcone, two men who paid for positions with the sacrifice of life.
In the Parisi classroom, in front of an audience made up of attendees of the course for Commissioners and experts from the world of communication, the event was moderated by the Rai3 journalist Fabrizio Feo.
In his speech, the head of the Police Giannini spoke about the book: “A work that I have read and I believe is a really important tool, both from the point of view of the attention and analysis of the various prevention measures, and the accurate knowledge of all control over these preventive measures, which means that they can then be applied, with awareness and with an important information background. At the base there is the information activity of the territory – added the prefect Giannini – both physical and virtual. The prevention activity is fundamental, when we arrive first, we can limit the damage or identify the danger of people and organizations before they can commit crimes. The prevention activity must be the cornerstone on which our activity must be founded. This book – concluded the Chief of Police – is not an academic exercise but a careful study that allows you to have a full knowledge of tools that must absolutely be in our luggage ”.
The conclusions were entrusted to Undersecretary Franco Gabrielli, author of the preface of the book, who, speaking of the prevention measures contained in the book, underlined that: “In this book you will fully appreciate how much they imply a greater assumption of responsibility, because there is no assumption is only an anticipation of guardianship, but there is also an anticipation of accountability. Ours is a profession that makes the decision and the immediacy of the decision and the impact that this has on people’s lives one of the most significant distinctive figures. This anticipation of responsibility is the result of work, knowledge and in-depth analysis “.
