Private jet flights: Agen-Toulouse, Montpellier-Avignon… what are the most scandalous routes in the region?
The controversy over private planes is gaining momentum since the proposals of the PSG coach. Le Monde reviewed the flights of 235 active jets registered in France.

PSG is not the only customer to have rented a Boeing 737 for the occasion. A multitude of private planes fly in France and around the world causing much more pollution than the train for an equivalent journey.
The world has compiled data from more than 30,000 flights and 235 active jets registered in France since the start of 2022, according to data from the Flightradar site. The most common route by private plane took place between Nice and Paris: 425 flights carried out by 125 planes. A jet takes 1h18, the TGV 5h46 and a car 9h01. The second most common route was between Geneva and Paris: 423 flights by 98 aircraft. Barely 52 minutes by private plane compared to 3h14 by TGV and 5h09 by car. Third most frequent journey between Paris and Bordeaux. It has been carried out 375 times by 67 aircraft since the beginning of the year. To cover these 519 km, the TGV takes 2h10. A private flight saves 1h15 but it multiplies C02 emissions by 400. By car, count 5h57.
In the Southwest, several private jet flights have been recorded since the start of 2022.

- Beziers-Toulouse (23 min for 164 km): 9 flights by 3 planes
- Agen-Toulouse (25 mins for 87 km): 5 flights by 3 planes
- Brive Tarbes (25 mins for 249 km): 2 flights by 2 planes
- Castres-Rodez (20 mins for 96 km): 1 flight by 1 plane
- Carcassonne-Perpignan (17 min for 70 km): 1 flight by 1 plane
- Agen-Rodez (26 mins for 153 km): 1 flight by 1 plane
- Biarritz-Tarbes (22 mins for 127 km): 1 flight by 1 plane
- Agen-Pau (26 mins for 120 km): 1 flight by 1 plane
According to the NGO Transport & Environment, a jet trip pollutes between five and fourteen times more than an airliner, which itself emits approximately times more than a train.
