Marriage in threes – 3 Styrians are now saying yes – Austria-News
Three Styrians have now said yes in a free wedding and are showing on social media what it’s like to be married as a threesome.
Three is not too many: Marco (32), Marcel (35) and Michel (24) have been in a relationship for more than six years. Now the Styrians have said yes in a free wedding. The trio also provides insights into their relationship life on Instagram and TikTok – also to educate others about the subject of polyamory.
“Each of us has three relationships that require attention and nurturing.”
Polyamorous partnership on social media
The Styrians share their own personal story under the name “Die Mätzchen”. “As a family, we want to show ourselves as we are and thus help to reduce prejudice and stigma against polyamorous relationships,” the trio said on Instagram.
On their channels one learns that Marcel and Marco were initially a duo. The two became a couple in 2011, and the wedding followed a year later. With the first marital problems came the desire for “a bit of tension in the relationship”.
Marriage in threes is not legally valid in Austria
Shortly thereafter, Michel entered the lives of the two Styrians. The three men have been in a relationship since 2016. At first, the issue of jealousy was still present. “Like threesomeness, togetherness is an important part of a polyamorous relationship. Each of us has three relationships that require the attention and care of both partners to be taken seriously,” the men emphasize on Instagram.
On July 21st. Marco, Michel and Marcel finally say yes. However, a marriage involving several people is not legally recognized in Austria. “Even if the state does not recognize this marriage, we know that we have given each other the yes word, we love each other infinitely and forever and we deny our lives together,” said the newlyweds.
“The wish for a family is here”
Nevertheless, they would like the law to be changed. “The registered partnership would be perfect for this. We would like to be able to legally secure what we have created for ourselves.” This is an issue for the three men, especially with regard to starting a family. “The desire to have a family is there, but only if the whole thing is legally secured. I’m a foster child myself and thanks to my great foster parents, I’ve had a good future,” says Marcel in an interview “Today”.
Three men don’t think much of the statement that you can only love one person. “Most of the time you have two parents and even four grandparents. It would be useful if you loved everyone and not just one of them. I can’t hear that sentence anymore. We also defend ourselves against the word polygamy,” says Marcel.
“The registered partnership would be perfect for this. We would like to be able to legally secure what we have created for ourselves.”
In a few days the Styrians will go on their honeymoon. “We’re treating ourselves to a break in Corfu before the cold winter for all of us is just around the corner.”
