Lucciana: the Mariana Archaeological Museum
Open for more than a year, the Mariana – Rainier III Archaeological Museum of Monaco located in Lucciana was compensated on Tuesday in the presence of His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco
This project had been imagined twenty-three years ago, and its first stone laid in 2014 already in the presence of the Prince, representing a twinned principality with Lucciana, two who share the same patron saint town, Sainte-Dévote.
It took just over ten million euros, a budget agreed to by the Principality, to build this museum, which also houses an archaeological research centre. The objective of this one is to highlight the archaeological work far from being finished on this site, and more generally the Roman period.
For Prince Albert, it was a mixture of emotion in repentance at his pilgrimage in 2003 alongside his father Prince Rainier III, but also of pride in the work accomplished. In his eyes, there are still a lot of things to do between Monaco and Corsica as a whole.
We listen to Prince Albert II of Monaco.
