25 new police officers in Toulouse and a new CRS unit in Montauban
Elisabeth Borne and Gérald Darmanin announced an increase in the police force with 8,500 additional police and gendarmes. The Toulouse public security district will benefit from 25 additional police officers from the end of October. In addition, a new elite CRS unit will be created in Montauban.
The orientation and programming law of the Ministry of the Interior (Lopmi) was presented this morning to the Council of Ministers. The opportunity for Elisabeth Borne to specify the additional staff that the police will benefit from on October 31.
The Toulouse public security district will see its staff increase by 25 police officers from October. 25 new peacekeepers who will take up their post as soon as their training is completed on October 31, 2022. The press release from the Haute-Garonne prefecture specifies that “the public security district of Toulouse is one of the priority territories which will see their numbers increase further in the months to come.”
But the pink city is not at the forefront of the increase. 100 additional police officers will be assigned within two months to the public security district (CSP) of Marseille. Out of a total of 781 new peacekeepers, 350 recruits will go to the Paris police headquarters, 79 to the CSP in Lyon, 65 in Lille, 30 in Nice, 30 in Rouen and therefore 25 in Toulouse.
4 “CRS 8” companies will also be created in Montauban, Marseille, Chassieu (Rhône) and Nantes. A CRS 8 what is it?
These new elite units are specialized in urban violence, can be mobilized 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and deployed in less than 15 minutes on the ground. Each will include 200 police officers and 25 administrative officers.
In addition, on the national gendarmerie side, 7 mobile squadrons will be created, including 1 in Lodève. It’s a bit like the elite CRS 8 units of the police.
