TOP 14. Toulouse, La Rochelle, Montpellier… Who managed the best recruitment?
Last weekend, the Top 14 returned to your airwaves. The opportunity for all rugby fans to find their favorite team, with its new recruits acquired during the off-season. This was particularly the case with Toulouse Stadiumwho started Barassi, Jaminet and Retièreor with the French Stadiumwho was appointed Ivaldi, Pesenti, Habel-Kuffner, Parra and Ahmed. New players who will all try to bring their qualities to their club, so that it does better than last season. But now, looking at the different recruitments, we can legitimately ask ourselves, who achieved the best transfer window ? Of course, all of this, beyond being subjective, also depends on the budget of each Top 14 club. Indeed, some stables like Toulouse or Toulon will present many more means than others, which is felt at the level of the transfer window.
Of course, when we talk about recruitment, we think we asked these two champions of the championship. Because yes, Stade Rochelais and Stade Toulousain hit hard this season, in recruitment of internationals, but also excellent players of the championship. Starting with La Rochelle, which saw the opener Antoine Hastoy join its ranks, but also the Racingmen Dove, Tanga and Thomasand the people of Bordeaux Paiva and Seuteni. Some (very) nice people, especially since the Maritimes have managed to keep many of the team’s executives. Indeed, the Atonio, Bourgarit, Alldritt, Kerr-Barlow or Favre all extended the final season. A very important data, and often forgotten when talking about the transfer window. The situation is similar for Stade Toulousain. Considered more “bling-bling” and less relevant than that of the Rochelais, Toulouse’s recruitment is still quite impressive: Roumat, Graou, Barassi, Retière, Capuozzo, Jaminet… All joined the Reds and Blacks this year. Players who will fix some shortcomings in the squad (backing Antoine Dupont, but also in the center and on the wing), even if some specialists evoke a lack of depth in the second line position. Nevertheless, it is a successful recruitment for the club of the Pink City, which also knew how to keep its stars, like Dupont, Ntamack, Mauvaka, Baille or even Ramos. Moreover, and despite these arrivals, La Rochelle and Toulouse have not destabilized their workforce with many recruits. A data, also essential. In the same vein, we could also mention the recruitment of the champion of France, the MHR, which has managed to strengthen itself singularly with Coly, Carbonel or even Lamwithout missing out on many executives, except perhaps Guirado, Ouedraogo (retirement), and Paillague (Toulon).
