Solar Magazine – Permit for innovation boulevard largest solar park in the Netherlands for inspection
Energy estate Wells Meer, which is to become the largest solar park in the Netherlands, reports that the draft environmental permit for 4 test fields with solar panels is available for inspection at the municipality of Bergen.
The Wells Meer Energy Estate – which will be located east of the De Maasduinen National Park in the Limburg municipality of Bergen – will cover 444 hectares. It not only consists of 265 hectares of solar fields, but will also house windmills and 175 hectares of (new) nature upon completion.
Agriculture
Test fields are planned for this on the innovation boulevard of Energielandgoed Wells Meer. In these fields it is possible to test innovative applications of solar panels in combination with agriculture.
The solar panels on these test fields will be placed on high, open constructions. The height changes from 2 to 10 meters. In this way, the soil under the solar panels can be used for other purposes, such as fruit growing. The test fields are used to investigate the possibilities for double use of space. For example, they want to investigate the height of solar panels to enable double use of space and which crops are suitable for growing under solar panels and how much they need to grow properly.
The draft environmental permit for the 4 solar fields is available for inspection until September 21, 2022. Interested parties can submit a position until that date. These considerations should be included in the final environmental permit.
