6th minute Montenegro loses the ball, Vigvári is pulled back, man advantage!
6th minute Manhercz’s excellent pass is pushed to the left by Molnár to Jansik, who is so alone that he drops the ball, but shoots under the crossbar from half a meter between goalkeeper Ukropina and Lazovics, in front of the right post. 6-4!
5 minutes Angyal is good eight in the left center, Petkovics shoots with great power at the goal… Vogel’s hand the ball goes towards the top corner… GOAL FOOT!
4th minute Perkovics’ drop hits the crossbar, not far above Vogel’s hand, then Zalánki shoots at the goalkeeper from five. Zalánki: 5 shots today, 0 goals.
2 minutes They grab Jansik’s neck and push him under the water for safety’s sake. Onward, fortunately he survived. Even in a state of oxygen deficiency, he may see another bad play from the opponent. A very slow Hungarian attack, at the end Zalánki shoots at the goal with a left-footed shot… BAR!
2 minutes Vigvári installs the center, that’s right!
1 minute Vogel saves three times in one action, the Dutch player stops the Hungarian counterattack…
1 minute Now the opponent has the ball, Nagy stands up, his second personal foul, Djurdjics’ shot is pushed off the crossbar by Vogel!
1. MINUTE LET’S CONTINUE!
Based on recent history, the flag is ours in the quarter-finals, as Montenegro was last able to defeat our national team at the 2018 European Championship, since then there have been six Hungarian successes in a row. At the rival, the naturalized Konstantin Averka can be the driving force, having scored nine times in the four tournaments so far.
Today’s opponent also reached the quarter-finals of the European Championship, defeating Georgia (14-11) and Slovakia (18-10) in the group stage, but fell apart in the rally against the Italians after the long break, suffering a 13-8 defeat, and had to play to get into the last eight. The team did what was required against Romania, which represented a modest playing force, but there was no question of a certain victory, as it was only two between them in the last eight minutes, and in the end the Montenegrins won by five, 13-8.
8. MINUTE OF THE SECOND QUARTER IS OVER!
8th minute Vigvári shoots at the goalkeeper from seven.
8th minute It’s half a minute back, but Ukropina’s very bold tackle is very bad.
8th minute They are blowing a wall in the Németre center.
7th minute Perkovics on the other hand, he immediately uses defensive attention and shoots into the goal a meter away 5-4!
7th minute Hungarian man advantage, Burán suppresses Molnár Djurdjucs after playing in… five meters. Manhertz… with the right… he bombs under the crossbar, in the upper left corner, to be exact. 5-3, He scored 13 goals in the tournament, his rate is 85 percent, because he shot on goal 15 times!
7th minute High fives are given against Vigvári, it was acceptable. Djurdjic he shoots very casually into the upper left with his right, immediately, without frills. 4-3!
6th minute Two or two bad attacks, no high fives, Jansik he shoots with his right into the upper right from the center, from six meters. I really needed it! 4-2!
4th minute Block, block, then block, then penalty. He shoots with a right to the upper left Djurdjic. 3-2!
2 minutes Bad attack here and there, Jansik wins an exhibition, Zalánki’s left-handed, five-meter attempt is blocked in front of the top right. There will be a corner roll… if Black’s cap is brought up. Got it. Burián’s left-handed, seven-meter shot is blocked by Djurdjics.
1 minute Mienk has the ball, but the goalkeeper catches Fekete’s shot. Fortunately, Popadics’ shot is no different.
1. MINUTE LET’S CONTINUE!
The Montenegrin national team was transformed after the Olympics, and although the young people are developing at a good pace, Aleksandar Ivovics, the captain of the BL-winning Pro Recco team, and Drasko Brguljan, who spent the previous two seasons in Vasas, are missing because he feels the team. At the Tokyo Olympics and at this year’s World Championship, the Montenegrins finished in eighth place, in Budapest, our team defeated them 8-6 in the final division, and after that, their national team captain, Vladimir Gojkovics, stated that they will be better at the next tournament.
8. MINUTE OF THE FIRST QUARTER IS OVER!
8th minute A great block in the last second from Nagytól Perkovics after a five-meter, right-handed bomb!
8th minute You will find four in the lower left Conari, three of them get in, including the goalkeeper, but it’s inside! 3-1!
7th minute Djordjics tries a bit from the right, from six meters, with a right, but Vogel makes a big save… Angel is also fresh, shoots with his right into the upper left from six, from the center, 2-1!
6th minute Another bad play from Montenegro, Jansik’s pass is saved by Lazovics with Zalánki’s left-footed shot from the goal post.
5 minutes Tough Hungarian defense again, Zalánki shoots with his left foot into the lower left corner, but he pushes in front of him.
4th minute Manhercz scores the ball, Fekete’s seven-meter shot is very bad. Vogel reaches Popadics’ seven-meter shot from the top left.
3 minutes Manhercz’s cross is blocked in front of Molnár, Radovics’ pass in front of the Hungarian goal is worse… He passes to Jansik Zalánki, who shoots on the crossbar with a left foot from four, slightly to the right! Angel recovers it, nice attack, at the end with a bad cross from Zalánki.
2 minutes Zalánki stands up, barely starts, slightly to the left from two meters Averka shoots under the crossbar with his right. Behind two defenders… 1–1
1 minute Good defense… then bad offense.
A little VAR investigation did justice.
1 minute Hungarian success in swimming, man advantage, then Lazovics saves in front of the top left German half a meter long! But he was already inside 1-0!
1. MINUTE THE MATCH HAS STARTED!
Ours in white caps with green trim, their Montenegrins in dark blue.
Everyone is aware that so far we have only gone through the “warm-up”, now the really intense matches are coming. However, if the Hungarian national team imposes its will on the Montenegrins, like the Serbians, the result will be similar – the difference is not necessarily, but the main thing is to reach the top four. After the World Cup in Budapest, it would be medicine for the soul.
Moreover, in the group stage, everyone “shot” themselves, everyone had at least one outstanding match, so the Azons are also over the initial lampooning. “I feel good at the European Championship. So far we have had two easier matches and one rally, we played against the Serbians in a very good atmosphere, there were many people in the stands, I really enjoyed it – he concluded Vigvári Vendel after the group stage and before the quarter finals. – In that match, I was left in debt with the goals, but the main thing was to win, so I don’t feel any sense of loss. We had a lot of time to prepare for the quarterfinals, we also knew for several days who we were going to play, which is a big advantage, since we could rest and prepare together with another team, while our opponent was still playing hard on Sunday. I feel that we have everything to advance, but it will be a big task to win the quarter-finals.”
So there is fire in Zsolt Varga’s young band. As before, there was discipline. The national team captain always asks that the defense starts with the end of the attacks, and the players are increasingly adopting this creed. In the past, we have seen the Hungarian national team that if the attack does not lead, they do not rush the goal, but throw the ball into the corner, but sometimes this is what is needed to prevent a turnover.
DISCIPLINE AND DETERMINATION – if these two are in order, the Hungarian men’s water polo team will defeat Montenegro in Split in the quarter-finals of the European Championship on Tuesday. There will certainly be no problem with determination, as the Hungarian team, which will qualify straight away as group winners, can use the Sunday holiday together with the Croatians in the round of 8, and the two-goal and forward-handicap practice were punctuated by very fiery scenes.
The surprise of the tournament was the French national team, which defeated Serbia 10-9.
In Sunday’s match for a place in the last eight, Montenegro defeated Romania 13-8, thus putting the Hungarian national team “in front”.
