Fête Saint-Michel in Toulouse: towards an agreement between the fairgrounds and the town hall?
Negotiations between the town hall and the fairgrounds, which have remained at a standstill all summer, are accelerating. The feast of Saint-Michel could take place.
The maintenance of the Saint-Michel festival seems compromised this year. It’s been taking shape for a few days. But where ? After spending 10 years at the Zenith, the showmen were forced to leave last year. The search for a new location had stalled for several weeks. Negotiations between the town hall and the carnies were at a standstill. But here they are again.
The Capitol proposed the Ile du Ramier to host this festive event. The showmen refused, citing impossible techniques.
The town hall of Toulouse submitted two new proposals on Monday: a plot in the Ginestou district and the other towards Montaudran, chemin des Carmes. As soon as we have the necessary information in hand, we will come back to the town hall to decide, ”explains Stépahnue Dubief, secretary general of the fairground federation of France (FDFF).

Failing agreement, a demonstration is planned
This summer again, the future of the historic funfair in Toulouse. Without response, the FDFF had published an incendiary press release in which it questions the will of the municipality to maintain the event, which is necessarily held from the end of September to mid-October. Infuriated by the halt in negotiations, the Federation of Fairgrounds of France announced that a notice of demonstration was filed on August 18th. It is valid from September 16, 2022 (symbolic date of the first installations of caravans participating in this fair) to October 16, 2022.

If the Saint-Michel festival does not take place this year, the FDFF intends to maintain its protest movement. The starting point for this gathering is from the Toulouse Nord toll gates. The route taken during this event is via the various tolls, airport, ring road, Zénith and finally the city centre.
In 2012, the showmen refused to move to the Zénith, which they ended up taking over. 10 years later, it is the island of Ramier that they reject. Should we see a sign there?
