Firefighters were mobilized Monday September 5 around 8:20 p.m., avenue Henri Zanaroli in Annecy (Haute Savoie), following the report of the collapse on itself of a roof of a dwelling on a land occupied by people from the Traveler community, according to the department’s fire department. A canine team was also deployed to explore the site and ensure that there were no victims.
A fragile building
The building is an old farmhouse with stone walls. Two firefighter dogs carried out a reconnaissance of the site, without reporting the slightest presence of human beings under the rubble. No injuries were therefore reported. On the ground of the unoccupied building were five caravans where four people lived.
The caravans were evacuated from the site where they did not have permission to settle there. Due to the risk of another collapse, a security perimeter has been established around the building.
