Toulouse: the works that still bother motorists
Some summer work continues in early September. With the key, traffic jams, with the return of heavy traffic.
The summer is coming to an end, but some work carried out in July has not yet been completed in certain districts of Toulouse and the metropolis. Some will even be there for a few weeks or even a few months. This causes some traffic jams in this first week of September.
In Empalot, along the Garonne, construction of a footbridge
This is particularly the case for the construction of a new footbridge over the Garonne, on the Empalot side, avenue de Lattre-de-Tassigny. Along the Garonne, one traffic lane has been neutralized since the beginning of July.
Facing the Ile du Ramier, companies are preparing the construction site for this new footbridge, one of the four that will be built as part of the Grand Parc Garonne project. Two are expected by 2024 (for 20 million euros), and two more within four years. The Empalot footbridge will be built in the continuity of Maria Mombiola street. 145 meters long, cable-stayed, all metal (and concrete for the ramps and supports), this footbridge will connect the island to the heart of Empalot. Its construction will last approximately 13 months, i.e. until mid-2023.
Boulevard de la Marquette, two lanes less
Another difficult passage which persists for motorists at the moment, the boulevard de la Marquette, in front of the departmental council. At this location, a new cycle path is being developed. The new cycle path will be developed from the county council to the Béarnais bridge. The lanes for cars will be kept, but reduced in width, indicate the metropolis.
Boulevard des Minimes, always one or two lanes cleared
On the boulevard des Minimes, towards the station, one or even two tracks are neutralized, as part of the construction of the 3rd metro line, for work related to the electrification of the site.
Preparatory work for the 3rd metro line is also continuing on Boulevard Marengo and on the Georges Pompidou bridge, at the foot of the arch, until the end of September.
One-way construction of the Saint-Pierre bridge scheduled for early 2023
Work to make rue du pont Saint-Pierre and pont Saint-Pierre one-way, with tactical bus and bicycle layouts, is scheduled for early 2023.
