Toulouse: Eiffage Rail opens a regional department
The construction group has chosen Toulouse to set up a new Greater South-West regional department dedicated to the construction and maintenance of railway lines. It will employ up to 150 people by 2023.
Eiffage plants another flag in Toulouse. After having bought 49.9% of the capital of Toulouse-Blagnac airport at the end of 2019, the construction group chose the Toulouse metropolis to open a new regional direction Eiffage Rail. Opened this summer with around forty employees, it will ramp up to reach the bar of 150 employees by the first quarter of 2023, not including temporary workers. It will generate approximately €30 million in revenue at cruising speed.
It is Nicolas Payen who takes the direction.
The choice of Occitania
Aged 40, he previously held the same position in Paris where he managed major projects such as Eole (RER E) as well as the construction of metro and tram lines. In Toulouse, he heads a team made up of journeymen to carry out railway works, engineers and technicians to carry out studies and engineering, and sales teams. “As for Toulouse airport, we are deployed for the long term in Toulouse and in the South-West. We have chosen Occitania to cover the greater South-West, including New Aquitaine, because the regional president Carole Delga is very proactive on the train policy” assures Nicolas Payen.
LGV and line reopening
A reference to the 200 km of the future Bordeaux – Toulouse high-speed line, including the Toulouse North and Bordeaux South rail nodes, but also to the reopening of lines such as the TER right bank of the Rhône this summer (closed since 1973) or to the future link Montréjeau Luchon or even that between Alès and Bessège. The regional management of Eiffage Rail will rely on all the branches of the construction group and in particular civil engineering.
