Toulouse: antivax posters still in place, 10 days after their ban
The prefecture of Haute-Garonne banned, on August 27, the antivax posters that had flourished in the streets of the agglomeration. Some are still in place.
The antivax do not disarm. The poster campaign set up on August 12, on nearly 35 sites in the Toulouse conurbation, still has some dross. A dozen posters, according to our information, would still be in place in the metropolis, on official panels, in 4 x 3 m. It reads: “Covid vaccines. A cardiovascular accident for 100 injections. The health of our children is worth more than experimental vaccines.”
A prohibition order issued on August 27…
However, the prefecture issued an order ordering the removal of the posters, which contravenes the 1881 law on freedom of display, “in particular, when, made in bad faith, it will have disturbed the public peace or will have been likely to disturb “, specified the prefecture and the Regional Health Agency (ARS).
The ReInfoCovid collective, sponsor of the communication campaign, and the poster company, had 72 hours, from the notification of the banning order, to remove the posters.
…and posters still present, ten days later
In parallel with this procedure, ReInfo Covid filed an interim suspension, on August 30, to have this display ban suspended. ReInfocovid’s lawyer, Me David Guyon, will plead before the interim relief judge in the coming days.
The ReInfoCovid association has asked for the ban to be suspended
“The Freedom of the Press Act of 1881 authorizes the publication of information. The prohibition of their publication must be substantiated and pronounced by a judge. We believe that the decision of the prefect of Haute-Garonne is abusive. The debate of general interest on the figures linked to vaccination against Covid-19 must be able to continue”.
Regarding the presence of posters in the streets of the metropolis, even after the ban pronounced on August 27 by the prefect, the lawyer invokes administrative delays, which will have no consequence on the summary proceedings.
