Saint-Pierre: a young man accuses the police of assault following a “muscular” arrest
This Sunday, September 4 in the early morning, the national police would have carried out a “muscular arrest”, in a pied-à-terre house in the Bois Joli sector, in Saint-Pierre. The defendant, accused of burglary, escapes with injuries and 5 days of ITT. He plans to file a complaint.
It is in the neighborhood of Pretty Wood, this Sunday that the arrest took place. Filmed by a CCTV camera, the scene of the arrest was “muscular and shocking” for the family. Kevin, the defendant, explains that he would have asked the reasons for the arrest, but received no answer. He would therefore have moved away in order to warn his spouse by telephone, it was then that the security forces would have surrounded him before “attack him“, in his words.
Accusations denied
For their part, faced with accusations of gratuitous violence or abuse of power, police union ensures that the arrest was made within the measures of the protocol. “Today when we have nothing to reproach ourselves for and they come to get us, we have to cooperate. If we don’t cooperate and we become violent, the police respond”declares Idriss Rangassamy, departmental secretary national police alliance.
For the moment, only one investigation has been opened for burglary and concerns the defendant. “If colleagues have to answer for their actions, they will do so in due time”, let know Idriss Rangassamy.
